Fact or Fiction: Never Eat Past 7 P.M.
We've all heard that if you want to lose weight you shouldn't eat after 7 P.M. I'm here to tell you that you can, in fact, lose weight even if you eat after 7 P.M.
That's right! You can lose weight even if you eat after 7 P.M.
In order to lose weight you need to consume less calories than you burn throughout the day. It doesn't matter what food you ate, how much exercise you got, or what time you ate. You could eat only carbohydrates at every meal and at 9 P.M. without exercise and as long as you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight.
It is important to be aware of the time you eat and the time you weigh yourself. If you are used to eating dinner at 6 P.M. and weighing yourself at 7 A.M. the next morning but last night you ate dinner at 9 P.M. and weighed yourself today at 5 A.M. you may see an increase in weight. This increase is because your body usually gets 11 hours to burn calories but last night you only gave it 8 hours. The body uses energy during sleep!
If your body weight fluctuates try to get consistent with as many variables as possible, water, calories, macros, exercise, and sleep. You can also calculate a weekly weight average and compare that average week to week to notice changes. With personal training we push for consistency and look at all variables.
If you are hungry after 7 P.M., eat.
