Cellulite
“Cellulite affects 80-90% of women and 10% of men. It affects the appearance of skin, making it look lumpy " (Harmon, 2009.) The most common places to see cellulite are the thighs, butt, and abdomen, the places that women typically store fat. 🙃
Cellulite is caused by fat deposits beneath the skin. When fat cells increase in size the fibrous cords that attach muscle to skin tighten because of increased pressure and pull the skin down while the fat deposit pushes the skin up. This results in peaks and crevasses in the skin.
Ultimately, it’s in our genes. Even people with low body fat percentages can have cellulite. Although having a lower body fat percentage will make the appearance less noticeable than if it were high. A way to help with cellulite is to gain muscle and lose fat. Massage is another option that may reduce cellulite. This may work by increasing blood flow and reducing excess fluid to the area. This does include foam rolling. Creams are available as well, however they take longer to see results and the results may not be as drastic.
You are the only person that cares about what you look like. Your friends are still going to love you even if you gain 30 pounds. Your boss isn’t going to promote you just because you lose 15 pounds. People care about your energy and how you treat them. We have good energy when we feel confident so remember most people have cellulite and no one cares. 😇 Your body is beautiful and does amazing things every single second of every single day.
